Shortlist

Best wire-free robot lawn mowers

Our current shortlist, with the reasoning shown rather than hidden. Each pick names the constraint it solves - lawn size, slope, or price - so you can tell quickly whether it is the right pick for you rather than for someone else.

Our picks

Category winners

We name a winner per category, never a single overall best, because a mower that is excellent on half an acre of flat lawn can be the wrong buy for a steep quarter-acre.

Husqvarna

Automower 440 iQ

$4,299.99 Out of stock at manufacturer Last checked Sep 14, 2026

  • NavigationRTK-GNSS
  • Max area2 acres (1 acre irregular)
  • Max slope45%
  • Runtime138 min
  • Warranty4 years

Strengths

  • 4-year warranty, the longest of any model we track.
  • Rated for 2 acres, so most suburban lots have headroom.
  • EPOS positioning works from satellites and the cellular network, and it also accepts a physical wire as a fallback.
  • Husqvarna has an established US service network.

Limitations

  • At $4,299.99 it is the most expensive model on this page.
  • Rated to 45% slope - roughly half the 80% that LUBA 3 and Dreame A3 AWD Pro claim.
  • Only 15% at the boundary, which matters if your lawn is edged by a bank.
  • 9.4 in cutting width is narrower than the 15.8 in of the Dreame.

Mammotion

LUBA 3 AWD 1500

$2,399.00 In stock at manufacturer Last checked Sep 14, 2026

  • NavigationLiDAR + Vision
  • Max area0.37 acre
  • Max slope80%
  • Runtime215 min
  • Warranty3 years

Strengths

  • Rated to 80% (38.6 deg) slope, the steepest figure we found.
  • Tri-Fusion positioning combines 360 LiDAR, NetRTK and dual-camera vision, so it does not depend on a single technology.
  • 215 minutes per charge.
  • 3-year warranty.

Limitations

  • This price is the 1500 variant, rated for 0.37 acre only - the 3000 and 5000 variants cost more and Mammotion does not publish those prices on the page.
  • Cutting width is not stated on the product page.
  • Dreame matches the 80% slope rating for about $150 less.

Dreame Yard Care

A3 AWD Pro 2500

$2,249.99 sale price, was $3,099.99 In stock at manufacturer Last checked Sep 14, 2026

  • NavigationLiDAR + Vision
  • Max area2,500 m2 (0.62 acre)
  • Max slope80%
  • Runtime
  • Warranty

Strengths

  • Matches the 80% (38.7 deg) slope rating of the LUBA 3 for a lower price.
  • 15.8 in cutting width, the widest on this page.
  • 360 3D LiDAR with a stated 230 ft detection range plus binocular vision, so no RTK antenna to mount.
  • Cutting height adjusts from 1.2 in to 3.9 in.

Limitations

  • We cannot confirm the warranty. Dreame's official after-sales policy documents warranty terms for its pool cleaners but not for its robot mowers, and the product page itself shows 3 years in one place and 1 year in another. We leave the cell blank rather than print a figure we cannot stand behind - ask Dreame in writing before you buy.
  • Runtime per charge is not published.
  • Rated for 0.62 acre; the 3500 and 5000 variants cover more for more money.

eufy

Robot Lawn Mower E15

$1,799.99 In stock at manufacturer Last checked Sep 14, 2026

  • NavigationVision / camera
  • Max area0.2 acre (8,700 sq ft)
  • Max slope
  • Runtime90-110 min
  • Warranty

Strengths

  • At $1,799.99 it is the lowest-priced model we track.
  • Vision-only navigation means no reference antenna to install, so a clear sky view is not a requirement.
  • 90 to 110 minutes per charge.

Limitations

  • Rated for 0.2 acre, which rules out most large lots.
  • eufy specifies flat lawns with a height difference under 1.2 in and grass under 3.5 in.
  • The published slope figure is inconsistent between eufy's own pages, so we have left it blank rather than print a number we cannot stand behind.
  • No warranty period is published.

How to read this page

We do not crown a single best robot mower, because the category does not work that way. A model that is excellent across half an acre of flat, open lawn can be the wrong purchase for a steep quarter-acre under mature trees. So we name a winner per constraint, and we say which constraint each pick solves.

Every pick shows the same five figures: navigation type, rated mowing area, rated maximum slope, runtime per charge and warranty. Those five decide almost every purchase. The strengths and limitations under each pick come from those published figures, not from impressions.

What would rule a model out for you

  • Your steepest section exceeds the rated slope. One short steep stretch is enough to strand a mower rated below it. Measure the worst part, not the average.
  • Your lawn exceeds the rated area. Rated area is what the mower keeps on top of across its weekly schedule, not what it cuts in a single session.
  • Heavy tree canopy with a satellite-only model. RTK positioning needs a clear sky view for its reference antenna.
  • Passages narrower than about three feet. Many models cannot get through a tight side gate, whatever their navigation technology.

If any of those apply, use the full comparison table and filter on your own numbers instead of starting from our shortlist.
